Expanding Medicaid will hurt Maine

Medicaid now covers our very poor seniors, pregnant women, poor parents, children, the disabled and our most vulnerable elderly citizens.

Expanding welfare Medicaid will go to non-disabled, working-age adults and will hurt the system intended to help those who really need it.

Expanding welfare Medicaid will cost Maine taxpayers $50 million to $100 million each year — year after year.

Medicaid is not Medicare. Senior citizen Medicare is a completely separate program.

Data from the Centers for Disease Control shows that the rate of drug overdose deaths is rising at a faster rate in Medicaid expansion states than it is in Medicaid non-expansion states.

Vote ‘No’ on Question 2 on Nov. 7.
