Let’s not forget principles America founded upon

To the editor:

America, the beautiful, a new born nation who opened her doors to anyone desiring to live where freedom rang throughout the land and where a person could pursue whatever lifestyle he wished.

A nation with a government of the people, by the people and for the people with liberty and justice for all.

However, it appears that each generation has disregarded what the Constitution states along with the Bill of Rights, which begins with we the people. They have forgotten what the people who wrote these articles went through and endured to put on paper what was in their hearts.

It is my belief that our beloved country has become a government of the politician, by the politician, and for the politician. They have forgotten what financial responsibility is and have put America on a road of self destruction.

We no longer have a government of the people, by the people and for the people. We have a government which is out of control and the ones who pay and suffer for their actions is we the people.

I firmly believe America the beautiful has grown old and weak, not from the source of military power but have forgotten the principles which America’s foundation was founded upon: truth, compassion, kindness, patience, right, humility, gentleness, honor, love, respect and courage.

I write this letter not to criticize but to remind the people, lest we forget the people who gave their all, even their lives to preserve this great nation of America.

Remember Abraham Lincoln and the Gettysburg address in which he stated after the Civil War, “That we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain, that this nation under God, shall have a new birth of freedom and that the government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

Lest we forget,
