CARIBOU, Maine — The Nylander Museum of Natural History, located on South Main Street in Caribou, is starting a monthly meeting for students in grades 2-6 on Saturday, Nov. 25 from 10 a.m.-12 noon.

Board member Debbie Nichols will conduct the workshops, titled “Explore Your Own Backyard,” to tie in the work of Olof Nylander and show students what they can discover in their own backyard, as he did.

Participants will review some of the museum’s holdings such as Sand Spices, tree fungi and fossils, and will have a chance to collect, bag and tag specimens from their own surroundings.

The programs are free of charge. For more information, call the museum at 493-5923.
