Floyd ‘Big’ Ellis

CASTLE HILL, Maine – Floyd ‘Big’ Ellis, 86, passed away early on Friday morning, December 29, 2017, at The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle. He was born on June 26, 1931, in Castle Hill, the son of Fred and Carrie (Springer) Ellis.

He worked as a custodian at SAD #1 for 45 years. Floyd attended the Castle Hill Advent Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Goldie (Curtis) Ellis of Castle Hill; three daughters, Debbie Smith (Dickie) of Little Madawaska Lake, Sheila Shirland of Topsham, Nancy Fenton (Doug) of Highlands Ranch, CO, and one son, Roger Ellis of Castle Hill. He is also survived by a brother, Sheldon Ellis (Kathy) of Presque Isle, four sisters, Eleanor Putnam of Westfield, Edwina Lovley of Mapleton, Berniece Campbell of Oakfield, and Norma Smith (Frank) of Washburn, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a twin brother, Lloyd, a brother, Eugene “Jack”, and a sister, Marilyn Churchill.
A graveside service will be held in Spring of 2018 at Southside Cemetery, Mapleton. Donations in his memory may be made to the Castle Hill Advent Christian Church or to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be shared at www.duncan-graves.com.
