CASTINE, MaineHusson University junior guard Kenzie Worcester surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her career Saturday in a 69-61 road victory over Maine Maritime Academy.

The 2015 Washburn District High School graduate reached the milestone in just 66 games, the fastest a Husson player has ever accomplished this feat.

Worcester broke other personal and school records during the day as well. She scored a career-high 36 points, which is the fourth most points scored in a single game in program history.

This achievement was possible due to the numerous times she was sent to the free throw line in the contest. She displayed near perfection by draining 20 of 23 attempts to break yet another Husson program record by netting the most points in a single game from the charity stripe.

On Monday, she picked up the North Atlantic Conference and New England Women’s Basketball Association Player of the Week awards after averaging 29 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals in victories over the University of Southern Maine and MMA last week.

With Saturday’s win, the Eagles improved to 5-5 on the season and 4-1 in the North Atlantic Conference.

Worcester is the daughter of Larry and Kim Worcester of Washburn.
