Busy night of doubleheaders on the hardwood

Thursday will be a busy night for local boys and girls basketball teams with a bundle of games slated.

The Hodgdon girls will make the trek down Interstate 95 to take on Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook at 7 p.m. The Warriors, under coach Cliff Urquhart, are 8-1 on the season and are riding a four-game winning streak heading into the game. SA is currently second in the Class D North standings, just 1.7 points behind top-ranked Deer Isle-Stonington (9-0).

Hodgdon (4-4) is looking to end a two-game skid, and claw its way back into playoff contention. That may prove difficult, however, against a Southern Aroostook squad that has outscored its foes 129-39 over the past two games.

Other games include East Grand traveling to Stacyville to take on Katahdin in a doubleheader, girls at 5:30 p.m. and boys at 7 p.m.; Ashland at Van Buren, girls at 5:30 p.m. and boys at 7 p.m.; Fort Kent at Fort Fairfield, girls at 6 p.m., boys at 7:30 p.m.; and Central Aroostook girls at Easton, 7 p.m.
