VNA hospice offers volunteer training

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — VNA Home Health Hospice is looking for volunteers to help hospice patients in Aroostook County.

The agency will offer volunteer training at its Presque Isle office beginning April 3.

“The impact a person can make in your life is not measured by the length of time you know them.  The dying have so much life to pass on to those who are lucky enough to share space and time with them before they go.  Being allowed into that sacred space has been a treasured privilege,” explained Linda Swift, a hospice volunteer.

Hospice seeks people who can hold a hand, lend an ear, run an errand, or provide a comforting presence. Healthcare experience is not required, and interested volunteers will receive the necessary training and support.

Training is scheduled for Tuesdays, April 3, 10, 17 and 24, and May 1, from 9 a.m.-12 noon; Mondays, May 7, 14 and 21, from 12 noon to 3 p.m.; and on Saturday, May 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
