Snowmobiler injured when snowmobile collides with pickup

CROSS LAKE TOWNSHIP, Maine — A snowmobiler was injured after the Ski Doo he was operating collided with a Chevrolet pickup in Cross Lake on Wednesday, according to the Maine State Police.

Coy Cooley, 20, of Cross Lake was travelling westbound on the 2002 Ski Doo and crossing Cyr Road just before 10 a.m. when, due to a curve in the road, he failed to see a 2014 Chevrolet pickup heading east, police said in a press release issued Wednesday afternoon.

Cooley crossed into the path of the pickup driven by Daryla Simon, 56 of Woodland and Cooley’s machine struck the front of the Chevrolet.

Members of Ambulance Service Inc. transported Cooley to Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent to be treated for injuries there were not considered life threatening, according to police.

Simon, who was wearing her seatbelt, was not injured.

Speed was not a factor in the crash, according to the police report.
