Troop F Report (week of March 28, 2018)

HOULTON, Maine — The Maine State Police Troop F barracks in Houlton responded to 106 calls for service during the period of March 12-18, 2018, including the following.

Monday, March 12

Blaine: Cpl. Michaud charged a Blaine woman with misuse of identification. The woman, who lived with her grandmother, had intercepted credit card applications that had been sent to her grandmother and sent them in without her grandmother’s knowledge. The woman obtained more than one card and made at least $2,500 worth of charges. The investigation is ongoing.

Blaine: Cpl. Michaud charged a Houlton man with operating after suspension. The man had been traveling north on Route 1 when a cap on his pickup flew off and caused a crash. During the course of the crash investigation, Cpl. Michaud learned that the man’s license had been suspended.

Tuesday, March 13

Frenchville: Tr. Desrosier stopped a vehicle in Frenchville for the traffic infraction of having a loud exhaust. During the stop, he suspected the male driver was impaired by drugs. He conducted field sobriety tests on the driver, resulting in his arresting the driver for driving under the influence of cannabis. Tr. Desrosier recently completed training as a drug recognition expert.

Presque Isle: Tr. Levesque stopped a vehicle in Presque Isle for a traffic infraction. During the stop, he noted the inspection certificate on the vehicle was fraudulent and also discovered falsely attached registration plates. He issued the driver two criminal summons, one for false attachment of plates and one for displaying fictitious certificate of inspection. The vehicle was towed from the roadway.

Mars Hill: Tr. Levesque arrested a man on a full extradition warrant from Texas. Troopers had received complaints of someone staying inside the Mars Hill transfer station at night. Tr. Levesque was checking the area and observed the man near some potato houses at night. A computer query showed the warrant with a $200,000 bond. He arrested the man and transported him to the Aroostook County Jail, where he waits for an extradition hearing.

Wednesday, March 14

Frenchville: Tr. Desrosier responded to a head-on crash in Frenchville. His investigation determined that a 2008 Chevrolet pickup was traveling westbound and lost control of his vehicle in the snow and slush covered roadway. The pickup skidded out of control, crossing the center lane, hitting an eastbound car. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured in the crash. Madawaska Ambulance transported the pickup driver and one other passenger to a medical facility for non-life-threatening injuries. Both vehicles had extensive damage and were towed from the scene.

Littleton: Cpl. Quint investigated an assault and violation of conditions of release in Littleton. The female victim stated she was dropped off at a house in Littleton and the homeowner and the suspect left. She was there alone and kept calling the homeowner because she wanted a ride home. When he and the suspect returned, the female suspect assaulted the victim by punching her several times in the head. The woman was issued criminal summonses for assault and violation of conditions of release. She is currently in the Aroostook County Jail on unrelated charges.

Mars Hill: Tr. Kilcollins was driving in Mars Hill when a motorist waved him down. The motorist said he worked for County Farms and cited issues with a green Ford Taurus/Fusion driving erratically in their parking lot. The motorist advised that the vehicle had almost crashed into numerous vehicles. Tr. Kilcollins observed the vehicle in the Mars Hill One Stop parking lot. He had received other traffic complaints on the male driver over the past few weeks. He pulled up to the vehicle and activated his emergency blue lights. The driver sped out into oncoming traffic and was almost hit by a tractor trailer. Tr. Kilcollins pursued the vehicle for approximately one-half mile. In that time the male drove another vehicle off the road and was driving erratically. The male finally stopped in the parking lot of a daycare center, where the trooper arrested him without incident. Law enforcement transported him to the Aroostook County Jail, where he was charged with eluding an officer, driving to endanger. Other charges are pending. No one was injured during the pursuit.

Thursday, March 15

Washburn: Tr. Levesque assisted the Washburn Police Department in locating a man who had three temporary warrants for his arrest from Presque Isle PD. The man was wanted for harassment, domestic violence stalking, and domestic violence criminal threatening. Tr. Levesque located the man in Washburn and arrested him on the warrants without incident, taking him to the Presque Isle Police Department.

Littleton: Tr. Pescitelli was patrolling Rt. 1 in Littleton and stopped a vehicle, finding that the 54-year-old male operator was operating under suspension. Tr. Pescitelli summonsed him for the violation.

Friday, March 16

Houlton: Tr Bell was patrolling Rt. 1 in Houlton and observed a 37-year-old female, whom he believed was suspended, operating a vehicle. He ran a check and discovered she was suspended. He conducted a traffic stop and summonsed her for the violation.

Sherman: Tr. Levesque was working a traffic enforcement detail on I-95 in southern Aroostook County. He stopped a vehicle from Nova Scotia for a traffic infraction, and discovered the driver’s privilege to operate a vehicle in Maine was suspended for failing to appear in Maine court in 1989. Tr. Levesque issued the man a criminal summons for operating after suspension and helped him arrange for a licensed driver to operate the vehicle.

Saturday, March 17

T11 R4: Tr Pescitelli was patrolling Rt. 163 in T11 R4 and conducted a traffic stop, determining the vehicle had a false inspection sticker attached. He summonsed the 19-year-old male owner/operator.

Easton: Tr Pescitelli was patrolling in Easton and conducted a traffic stop. He determined that the 31-year-old female operator was under suspension, and summonsed her for the violation.

Wallagrass: Tr. Curtin stopped a Monmouth woman for speeding on Route 11 in Wallagrass, traveling 80 mph in a 45 mph speed zone. She was summonsed to Fort Kent District Court for criminal speed.

Sunday, March 18

Hodgdon: Tr. Sylvia charged a Houlton man for operating after suspension. The man was stopped for a speeding violation and his license status was discovered after a routine license check. Tr. Sylvia issued him a summons to Houlton District Court.
