Floyd Calvin Flewelling

EASTON, Maine – Floyd Calvin Flewelling, 90, husband of the late Reta (Bradley) Flewelling, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018, at a Health-Care Facility. Dad was born on August 24, 1927, in Easton, the son of L.?Oscar and M. Fern (Doak) Flewelling.

Dad was a graduate of Easton High School, Class of 1945, and served in the United States Navy during World War II as an electronics and radio technician. Following his military service, he attended Valparaiso University in Indiana and graduated with a degree in Electronics Engineering. After 10 years working in Connecticut, Dad moved his family back to Maine and worked for Bradley Bros. Farm until he retired.
Dad was extremely witty—whenever one greeted him and asked how he was doing, he responded with “I’m just waitin’ my turn.” He loved the outdoors: hunting, fishing, and camping. He was a creative and talented handyman! Dad also had a “second” family at the County Dialysis Center with whom he shared a special bond.
During the last months of his life, the Aroostook Health Center became Dad’s home. We are so thankful for the kindness shown to Dad by the many caretakers he met there! He loved them, and they loved him. He often told us, “They are good to me here!”
In addition to his parents and Mom, Dad was predeceased by his son, Roy; two brothers, Howard and Lawrence Flewelling; and two sisters, Norma Kinney and Clara Cook. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Tom Osgood of Easton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Terry and Carolee Flewelling of Wilmore, KY; and Loren and Peggy Flewelling of Easton; seven grandchildren, Maj. Matthew and Jessica Osgood of Fairmont, OK; Maj. Michael and Anna Osgood of Niceville, FL; Dr. Michelle (Osgood) and Reed Montgomery of Milwaukee, WI; Kaitilee Flewelling of Wilmore, KY; Paige, Mitchell, and Chase Flewelling all of Easton; three great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Andrew Osgood of Niceville, FL; and Landon Osgood of Fairmont, OK. Dad had a fierce love and pride in all his grandchildren, and he was happy to have lived long enough to see his great-grandchildren.
A family graveside gathering and interment will be held in June at Estes Park Cemetery, Easton. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Flewelling to the County Dialysis Center, 23 North Street, Presque Isle, ME 04769. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, ME. Online condolences may be expressed at
