LITTLETON, Maine — A Hodgdon woman was injured Wednesday when the driver of the vehicle she was in fell asleep at the wheel and the car drifted off the road in Littleton, according to police.

Michaela Gray was operating a 2005 Subaru on Route 1 when she fell asleep and the car went off the road, hit a tree and rolled over, according to Aroostook County Chief Deputy Sheriff Shawn Gillen.

Gray’s passenger, Robin Witham of Hodgdon, suffered a broken bone in her shoulder, Gillen reported in a release Wednesday evening. Witham was transported to Houlton Regional Hospital. Information on her condition was not immediately available Wednesday evening.

Gray declined medical treatment, according to the chief deputy. The release did not provide the ages of the two woman or Gray hometown.

The vehicle sustained major damage and had to be towed from the scene.
