Vaughn H. Drost

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Vaughn H. Drost, 93, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at a Presque Isle Healthcare Facility. He was born August 3, 1924, in Fort Fairfield, Maine, the son of Ernest and Rosetta (Cullins) Drost.

Vaughn worked in hardware his whole life, first at Beaulieu’s Hardware for 45 years and then for MPG for 10 years. Many of his happiest memories were at the family camp on Echo Lake with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Annie F. Drost. Also, he was predeceased by half brothers, Theodore Day, Glenn Wiley, Ralph Day; and a half sister, Doris Hartman.
He is survived by two brothers-in-law, Phil Guerrette and wife, Kay and Nelson Guerrette and wife, Carmilla, both of Presque Isle; also, two sisters-in-law, Edna Albert and husband, Camille of Sebago Lake and Corrine Levesque and husband, Alphonse of Caribou. He is survived by two sons, Harold R. Drost and wife, Gladys of Presque Isle, Larry R. Drost and wife, Judy of Mapleton; two daughters, Ann Garland and Darlene Garland of Presque Isle. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Laurie Amero and husband, Scott of Mapleton, Paige Allen and husband, John of Eddington, Craig Garland and companion, Abbey of Westbrook, Tara Matthews and husband, Hank of Mechanicsville, VA, Adam Garland and wife, Joyce of Litchfield, Kathy Poitras and husband, Brian of Presque Isle, Heather Ofria and husband, Bill of Presque Isle, Jerod Drost and wife, Janet of Warren. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, Katelyn Amero, Justin and Alec Gagnon, Annabelle Matthews, Abby Garland, Emily and Brandon Poitras, Kassie and Hailey Rouse, Jalyn and Jayden Drost.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 AM Monday, June 4, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Parish of the Precious Blood. Friends may call 9AM Monday at the church until time of the Mass. Interment will follow the Mass at North Main Street Catholic Cemetery. A reception will follow at the K of C Hall behind the Church.
