Pony League baseball season underway

Six teams, four from Aroostook County and two others representing Canada, will compete in this year’s Northern Maine Community Recreation Association Pony League for 13-15 year-old baseball players.

The regular season began on June 19 and will continue through July 20, with the playoffs starting July 23.

The teams involved this season are Woodland/AFSL/CFCU from the Caribou area, along with squads from Presque Isle, Mapleton, Grand Falls, Edmundston and Van Buren.

Games are played weekdays, with Saturdays utilized for make-up games.

The upcoming game schedule is as follows:

Thursday, June 21: Grand Falls vs. Woodland/AFSL/CFCU at New Sweden, 4 p.m.; Monday, June 25: Mapleton at Presque Isle, 3 p.m.; Van Buren at Edmundston, 4 p.m.; Wednesday, June 27: Woodland/AFSL/CFCU at Presque Isle, 3 p.m.; Mapleton vs. Van Buren at Caribou, 4 p.m.

Thursday, June 28: Grand Falls at Presque Isle, 5 p.m.; Friday, June 29: Mapleton vs. Edmundston at Madawaska, 4 p.m.; Woodland/AFSL/CFCU at Grand Falls, 5 p.m. Monday, July 2: Mapleton vs. Woodland/AFSL/CFCU at Caribou, 3 p.m.; Van Buren at Grand Falls, 6 p.m.; Wednesday, July 4: Edmundston at Grand Falls, 6 p.m.
