Golf tourney raises funds for County cancer patients

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — C-A-N-C-E-R (Caring Area Neighbors for Cancer Education & Recovery) held its 19th annual golf tournament Saturday, June 30, at the Presque Isle Country Club.

Thirty six teams participated in this year’s event, with first place for gross on the women’s side going to the team of Libby Boone, Margaret Violette, Jennifer Flynn and Kati Roy. Taking net honors were Alexis Madore, Sandy Beaupre, Fern LaForge and Betty Deveau.

Second gross went to Gail Libby, Sue Nickerson, Sheila Nemer and Kathy Levesque, while second net was claimed by Llori Keirstead, Kathy Maynard, Linda Kinney and Helene Bernard.

For men’s teams, first on the gross side went to Clint Deschene, Dan Cote, Ralph Michaud and Brent Hatchard, with Matt Eager, Matt Sullivan, Matt Talbot and Trey Stewart earning top honors in net play.

Steve Carmichael, Henry Carpenter, Craig Durost and Tim Gagnon nabbed second gross honors, while Mike Collins, Shawn Doyen, Tim Belden and Joe Greaves took home second net.

All proceeds from this fundraiser stay in Aroostook County, assisting cancer patients in treatment and their families.
