FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — After receiving the nomination by the Aroostook County Republicans on Saturday, July 14, Karen Reynolds today announces her bid for Maine Senate District 2.

“I am honored to have received the nomination to be the Republican candidate for southern Aroostook and northern Penobscot Counties,” said Reynolds. “As a lifelong resident of Aroostook County, northern Maine will always be my home. I’m proud to have had the opportunity to grow up here, own businesses here and raise my family here. Over the next few months, I look forward to meeting folks around the district and hopefully earning their vote so I can work on their behalf in Augusta to advance policies that will allow the next generation to have the same opportunities that I have been blessed with.

I plan to rely on my ‘County Pride’ to use common sense to find consensus in Augusta on issues that are of importance to the constituents of this vast district.”

A graduate of Caribou High School and the University of Maine, Presque Isle, Reynolds currently owns and manages rental properties in Limestone, Presque Isle and Fort Fairfield. She also  co-owned and operated Four Corners Framing, a custom picture framing shop in Caribou. Previously, she worked as a bank teller with Katahdin Trust Company.

Karen is active within her community, serving as a school board member for MSAD (Fort Fairfield) since 2012. She also volunteers with the Fort Fairfield Frontier Historical Society, the Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department and served as a board member of Presque Isle Student Ministries. She has also assisted with the Aroostook Youth Basketball League.

Karen and her family attend the Community Wesleyan Church in Fort Fairfield. Her husband of 20 years is Dr. Jay Reynolds, Senior Physician Executive at the Aroostook Medical Center. They have three children together, Grace (18), Nathaniel (17) and Annika (16).

“I am pleased Karen has chosen to run for the Senate,” said Senate President Michael Thibodeau (R-Waldo). “Karen uniquely understands the challenges northern Maine faces. As a business owner she has had to adapt and adjust to be successful. While other parts of our state have thriving local economies, northern Maine continues to lag. Karen will fight everyday to improve the economy and create new opportunities, so that the children and grandchildren of Aroostook and Penobscot Counties can have a future right at home.”
