SMYRNA, Maine — The second annual “Blast from the Past” vintage transportation event takes place Saturday, Aug. 18, in downtown Smyrna.

Various vintage transportation related items such as cars, tractors, bicycles, motors and more will be on display. There is no fee to attend and lobsters and Italian sausages will be sold. A lobster with corn on the cob, a drink and chips will be $15. Baked potatoes will be available as well. Local businesses such as R.C. Logging and Keyes Trading Post are involved and excited to see the increased traffic in Smyrna.

Ralph Bartman, organizer of the event, has heard from people in Canada, as well as northern, central and southern Maine who plan to attend.

“There could be two dozen or more vintage autos from Bangor car clubs who have not attended in the past,” he said. “The “Old Flywheel Guys” from Fredericton, New Brunswick have stated they plan to come with their old working engine display. The SMHS has created a larger than life “Plinko” game with prizes for both adults and kids.”

Anyone interested in getting more information can visit the “Smyrna Merrill Historical Society” or “Blast From The Past” Facebook pages or call Ralph Bartman at 757-8411.
