Northern Maine General expands, hires Houlton caseworker

HOULTON, Maine — Expanding its reach to southern Aroostook County, Northern Maine General has hired Desirée Ellis of Houlton as a case manager for its case management program for children and adults.

“We’re looking forward to having Desirée help us fill a need in the Houlton area,” said Megan Bonenfant, case management program manager, based out of NMG’s central office in Eagle Lake.

The facility offers case management services to County families with members diagnosed with a mental illness, an intellectual disability, a pervasive developmental disorder and/or autism.

For families in southern Aroostook, Ellis will oversee screening and assessment, individual service planning for those 18 and older, service linkage and service monitoring. She is also trained to help families access resources and funding for these services.

Ellis earned a bachelor of social work from the University of Maine at Presque Isle in May 2018. Before that, she earned a bachelor of science in secondary education from UMPI in May 2010.

The mission of NMG, offering social services in Aroostook County since 1907, is to provide individuals with the highest standard of care and help all of the people its serves enjoy life to its fullest potential.
