Totaled car not a result of accident or crime

CARIBOU, Maine — Caribou police have received several calls and visits from concerned citizens regarding a severely damaged car parked across the road from McElwain’s Strawberry Farm on Route 161.

Sgt. Mark Gahagan contacted the owner soon after the vehicle was noticed at the site sometime Friday morning, according to Laura Adams, administrative assistant for the Caribou Police Department.

Adams said the owner was aware of the damage and the vehicle’s location.

She said there was not much information available about how the car ended up where it is or how the damage occurred, but added that officers did determine it was not the result of an accident or a crime.

Adams said the owner plans on moving the vehicle soon.
