TOPS (week of September 12, 2018)

The Houlton chapter of TOPS met Aug. 24, we we meet every Friday, at 7:45 to weigh in and at 9 a.m. for an hourlong meeting.

There were 10 TOPS and three KOPS members present.

The loser of the week was Janette Nelson and the runners-up were Barbara Troy and Denise Clark.

Brenda Clark won the 50/50 and Charlotte Marley won the skinny dish, with Jean Merritt winning the health basket.

Our contest is still going on and Charlotte has kept the bead colors in the right order for us. Thank you, Charlotte.

Barbara Troy led the weekly exercise group, My arms felt the results this week.

Barbara Grant gave the program on “The Benefits of Tea,” and how awesome it can be for your health. There are four major kinds of tea: green, oolong, black and white.

Several benefits from tea include burning fat and building muscle, reducing chance of heart attack, lowering risk of Parkinson’s disease and heart disease. It slows loss of bone density and strength.

One more great hint: herbal tea should be brewed in a closed container so all the healthful properties will be released. So enjoy lots of tea and stay hydrated too.
