PORTLAND, Maine — The Foundation for Maine’s Community Colleges has received a $25,000 grant from the KeyBank Foundation in memory of Sterling Kozlowski, KeyBank Maine’s former market president, who passed away unexpectedly in June.

The donation will be used to establish a scholarship fund in his name. Kozlowski served as a member of the board of directors for the foundation, and was a strong supporter of its work to benefit Maine’s community college students.

Kozlowski was active in the Portland business community, serving on a number of local nonprofit boards, and overseeing more than $7 million in charitable giving in the region by KeyBank during his tenure, including over $1 million to the Maine Community Colleges System.

Maine Community Colleges System President Derek Langhauser said, “Sterling was one of the strongest allies and greatest champions of our colleges and the students we serve. His deep appreciation for the impact Maine’s community colleges have on the people and economy of Maine was distinct and sincere. We are deeply grateful to KeyBank for this gift in his memory.”

Langhauser received the $25,000 gift at a memorial service for Kozlowski, with more than 200 business and community leaders attending.
