Mars Hill mulls craft fair possibility

The Mars Hill and Blaine Homecoming Committee met recently and is looking into doing a fall craft fair in early November if there is enough interest.

Please contact Dave on Facebook at “Dave Collins, director, Mars Hill Recreation” to sign up for this fair.

The committee will meet again on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 6:30.  We welcome all those who would like to join the group to attend.

Rotary Club

The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center.

The special speaker was Chloe Wheeler, 2018 Miss Mars Hill and 2018 Maine Potato Queen.  She is attending the University of Maine at Presque Isle, studying exercise science. She plans to work in the pediatric therapy field.

Chloe started her pageant career at an early age, setting the goal of winning all five Maine Potato Queen crowns.  She achieved that goal this year. She studied current events and practiced her music — a lot.

She is thankful to the Mars Hill Rotary Club for sponsoring the local pageants and appreciates the scholarship funds to help with college expenses.

She spoke about her duties as Potato Queen.  She will be attending the Big E in Springfield, Mass., to help serve baked potatoes as well as talk about the potato industry to event goers.  She will also attend various events in The County and the state.

Chloe also loves to speak about working to help the Disabled American Veterans.  Veterans benefits are sadly lacking in many areas for those individuals who served their country.
