CROSS LAKE, Maine – Ronald J. Cyr, 78, passed away September 15, 2018, at his Cross Lake residence following a period of declining health. He was born July 2, 1940, in Somerville, Mass., the son of the late Noel A. and Vivian (McNeal) Cyr.
Mr. Cyr was a 1958 graduate of the Caribou High School and attended Husson College in Bangor. Mr. Cyr served with the U.S. Air Force and on August 22, 1964, he married Louise Brescia. For over 43 years, he was a sales representative in the food industry for several area food service businesses.
Mr. Cyr was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of Foresters, was a member of the Perkins-Plourde Post 137, American Legion, and served as a fire fighter on the North Lakes Fire Department for a number of years.
He was an avid cribbage player and truly enjoyed nature and taking care of the grounds and wooded area at his camp.
Surviving in addition to his wife of more than 54 years, Louise of Cross Lake; his son, Kent J. Cyr and his wife, Sandra, of Brawley, California; one daughter, Karla M. Cyr of Cross Lake; three grandchildren, Bobby, Joseph and Eric Cyr; three brothers, David Cyr of Cathedral City, California, Tommy Cyr of Henderson, Nevada, and Gregory Cyr of Kissimmee, Florida; one sister, Kathleen Anne Kirkland of Mesquite, Nevada; a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Stanley and Louiselle Brescia.
At the family’s request a private funeral service will be held at the Parish of the Precious Blood, Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
