PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Quarterback Michael Brigman threw three touchdown passes, but the Aroostook Huskies’ high school football team fell short in its first home game of the season played Saturday, Sept. 15, at Northern Maine Community College.

The Central Maine Eagles of South China claimed the 44-18 victory.

Brigman, who is from Caribou, hit on scoring plays to Tyler Wright of Caribou and Ilijaha Fortes and Connor Rideout, both of Presque Isle.

The Huskies (0-3) trailed only 28-18 when an apparent fourth TD pass to Zaylan Johnston of Mars Hill from 50 yards out was called back due to a holding penalty.

Central Maine (2-0) then scored 16 unanswered points to account for the final score.

Eric Argraves of Presque Isle led the Huskies in tackles and Brendan Johndro of Caribou recovered a pair of fumbles to lead the defense.

The Huskies, coached by Taylor DeFelice, next play the Valley Mustangs in Madawaska Sept. 22. The team then has a bye before resuming play on Oct. 6 with a home contest against the Damariscotta Eagles.
