Educational Fair provides wide variety of kid-friendly events

HOULTON, Maine — The Aid for Kids annual Educational Fair featured an assortment of children’s activities to keep youths entertained for hours Saturday at the John Millar Civic Center.

Exhibits featured such hands-on activities as how to make slime, construct bird houses, and make colored sand creations. In addition, bounce houses, slides and many other children’s games were available.

The fair started several years ago when organizer Danette Ellis was approached by officials from Bess the Book Bus to partner for an event. Bess the Book Bus is a mobile literacy outreach organization from Florida that provides free new books for children of all ages.

Due to a scheduling conflict, the book bus was not able to be at this year’s event, but books were still available for area youth to take home.
