Elect Laura Farnsworth to Maine House of Representatives

To the editor:

Maine House District 145 sits in the middle of Southern Aroostook. This year voters in the district have the chance to elect a new leader to represent them in Augusta.

Laura Farnsworth was born and raised in Island Falls and spent her career in education as a school teacher. Laura carried her passion for education over to her current role as a member of the Southern Aroostook School Board. Here she has advocated for adequate school funding and updates to critical building infrastructure, and she has worked to make the school a thriving center for the community. In her hometown of Island Falls, Laura has focused on economic development initiatives, bringing community leaders of all backgrounds together to work on ways to encourage tourism and welcoming more businesses to town.

Her campaign is focused on three critical issues, developing Maine’s rural economy, increasing tourism to Northern Maine and supporting resources for educating our youth at all levels. These issues are non-partisan and as a result they have gained Laura support across the political spectrum. Along with these issues, Laura supports access to affordable health care and broadband expansion.

Over the past few months, I have gotten to know Laura. I have found that she spends her time listening to the concerns of people and talking about how to help solve problems. She doesn’t tell people how to think or judge them based on their politics or background. As an elected representative she would be accessible to all citizens and work to better her community. When you are at the ballot box this November I would urge you to cast your vote in support of Laura Farnsworth.

District 145 consists of the following towns: Bridgewater, Crystal, Dyer Brook, Hammond, Hersey, Island Falls, Linneus, Littleton, Ludlow, Merrill, Monticello, Mount Chase, New Limerick, Oakfield, Sherman, Smyrna, Stacyville and Moro Plantation, plus the unorganized territory of Central Aroostook (including E Township).
