Houlton Southside School students tackle big roles

HOULTON, Maine — Young actors at Houlton Southside School took center stage Friday, Oct. 19, as part of the school’s annual visit by the touring stage company, “Children’s Stage Adventures.”

For the past 12 years, elementary students in RSU 29 have had the opportunity to turn themselves into actors as members of CSA spend a week auditioning and working with the students.

This year’s production was “Cry Wolf,” a musical comedy. Two shows, complete with costumes and musical accompaniment were put on with the young actors and CSA representatives. The first show is for the entire school, while the evening performance is for the general public.

CSA is an innovative theatre company founded by Rob and Lorrie Gray in 1999 based out of Sullivan, New Hampshire, that travels to area schools, spending about a week with students for an original production. CSA is a non-profit organization created for the sole purpose of enriching children’s lives through participation in a live theatre experience.
