MAPLETON, Maine – Peter Clifford Greenier, 78, died after a struggle with Leukemia on November 21, 2018 at his home in Mapleton. He was born on March 14, 1940 in Presque Isle, ME to Forest & Laura (Garrison) Greenier. In August 1961 he married Beverly (Lyons) Greenier.
He attended Mapleton school.
He started working in 1961 for the City of Presque Isle Highway Dept. until he retired with over 47 years of service. Before he retired he was the Safety Officer at the highway dept. He also was on the Presque Isle and Mapleton Fire Departments for over 40 years and before he retired was the Assistant Chief on the Presque Isle Fire Department.
He was a 50 plus year member of the Grant Memorial United Methodist Church where he was very active singing in the choir and in the Men’s Club. He also was a member of the Mapleton Lions Club.
Peter is survived by his 2 children and their spouses, John and his fiancee Lynn Hansen, and his daughter Lisa and her husband Jeff Brown, all from Presque Isle. Grandchildren Allen and his wife Ana Rae Brown from Mapleton, Tyler and his wife Melissa Brown, and Sarah and Ryan Hansen, all of Presque Isle. Great grandchildren Alana, Alex, Madison, Mackenzie, Karlyn and Karyce.
Peter is also survived by sisters Betty Griffin of Presque Isle, Marilyn Bartlett of Lindenhurst, IL, Donna LaValley of Bernardston, MA, and Andrea Hicks of New Port Richey, FL; brothers Paul of Monmouth and Bob of New Port Richey, FL, as well as a very special sister-in-law, Launa Greenier of Monmouth.
He was predeceased by his wife, parents, one brother Forest C. “Woody” and both father and mother-in-law Lindwood and Elva Lyons.
The family would like to thank Dr. Nancy O’Neill and all the medical personnel.
Services will be at the Grant Memorial United Methodist Church, Presque Isle on December 8 at 11 a.m., with refreshments after the service.
