Limestone braves harsh weather to celebrate the holidays with light parade

LIMESTONE, Maine — Despite a weather system that brought several inches of snow as well as sleet and freezing rain to the region, the town of Limestone held its 25th annual Holiday Light Parade to the delight of community members.

The parade included nine float entries from area businesses and individuals. Winners of the annual float contest were: Limestone Fire Department — Most Creative Float and Best Lights; Limestone Cub Scout Pack 193 — Best Theme; and the Adventure Dog Company — Best Business Float.

“The Limestone Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all the participants for coming on a snowy night,” said Dennis McCartney, Limestone economic development coordinator. “We send a special thank you to Jim Pelletier and all of his crew at the Public Works Department for keeping the roads open so the parade could go on. We’d also like to thank the Limestone Recreation Department and the parade volunteers. We couldn’t have done it without them.”
