Probus Club holds meeting at NMCC

The Probus Club of Aroostook held their regular monthly meeting at NMCC on Thursday, Nov. 15, in the Reed Commons Building.

Gerry Gallagher called the meeting to order at 10 a.m. Dana Crorey introduced the guest speaker, Mario Picard who represents and does sales for Maine’s largest alarm company, Seacoast Securities. This company provides security systems for your homes, your summer residences, or any business locations. They also provide medical alert services. Mario Picard works for Seacoast Securities for our area, but they have five offices throughout our state.

Mr. Picard showed two examples of devices that are often used in homes and offices and are easily installed. The first was a 10×8-inch wireless wall mount that can detect break-ins, smoke, fire, water leakages, and even glass breakages. The second device was a unit that sends signals from your workplace to home area or any other desired local. Installation prices vary but these above devices are usually around $200.00 with a monthly service usage fee from $15 to $35 dollars.

Janet Snow gave a reading entitled, Here’s Your Wisdom with advice for anyone at any age: make friends, work for yourself, keep a pet, change your routines, and simplify your life for stability and happiness.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 p.m. Probus is a group interested in all their community contributors and anyone is welcome to attend the meetings and to become a member of an organization which promotes knowledge about your area.

A Christmas dinner will be served at a Dec. 20 meeting of the Probus Club for a $10.00 per person. There will be entertainment at this meeting.
