TNT Takeout gets license to operate in permanent location in Houlton

HOULTON, MaineAfter a successful start this summer, the operators of a Houlton food truck have found a permanent location to move their business.

David Tucker and his wife, Crystal Tucker, received a victualer’s license from the Town Council on Monday evening to run TNT Takeout at 69 High Street. That location had been the home of Dow’s Market for 111 years before it closed in November 2017. New business owners reopened it as Clark’s Market in May 2018, but it closed within a few months.

David Tucker and Eric Nelson opened TNT Takeout as a mobile eatery in June, parking the food truck on Water Street behind Sadie’s Bakery. Customers flocked to the location, purchasing appetizers such as nachos and mozzarella sticks and a variety of hot dogs, burgers, specialty tacos, subs, wraps, salads, fries, milkshakes and desserts.

Tucker said that after seeing the success of their venture, he and his wife decided it was time to operate the business year round.

He indicated that they had originally planned to redo the inside of a Military Street location to make it more of an eatery, with indoor seating and some beverages for sale. That deal fell through, however, and they began looking for another location.

He said that Eric Nelson would not be involved in the latest venture, but that the name of the business would not change.

Reached Tuesday, David Tucker said the couple is  awaiting licenses from the state before they set an opening date.
