Conservation effort is topic of Jan. 15 meeting

HOULTON, Maine — There will be a meeting of the USDA Local Working Group on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 9 a.m. at the USDA’s Houlton Service Center’s office, 304 North St.

The public meeting is planned as part of a joint effort by the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the Southern Aroostook Soil and Water Conservation District (SASWCD) to engage more participants in the conservation process in Southern Aroostook.

Local Working Groups provide input to the NRCS District Conservationist on local natural resource priorities and criteria for conservation activities and programs. Topics of discussion will include prioritizing resource concerns for Southern Aroostook for Fiscal Year 2020.
