Top shooters move on to regional Hotshot finals

CARIBOU, Maine — The local Hotshot competition for Caribou area youth was held Feb. 1 at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center and 12 advanced to compete in the regional championships.

Representatives from several other neighboring towns will be vying for titles Feb. 27, also in Caribou.

Advancing from Caribou were, in the 9-10 year-old girls’ division: first place, Carley Picard; second, Jade Cray; 9-10 boys: first place, Owen Corrigan; second, Chandler St. Peter; and third, Nic Plourde; 11-12 girls: first place, Madelynn Deprey; second, Joslyn Griffeth; and third, Anna Malone; 11-12 boys: first place, Dawson St. Pierre; second, Luke Beidelman; and third, Keegan Bell; 13-15 boys: first place, Blake Anderson.

A total of 17 youth participated in the Hotshot program, which is a basketball skills competition incorporating shooting from several different spots on a court, rebounding and dribbling while accumulating points in a one-minute time period.
