Ark Animal Sanctuary – Week of February 13, 2019

I thought I would tell you a little bit about the people behind the scenes. The ones who are the backbone of the Ark — the ones who work so hard and care for all of our animals. We happen to think the world of our volunteers and we just want to share a little bit about them.

Julie is a cleaning machine, she cleans from one end to the other, she even does windows. She also takes care of our painted turtle Sheldon and he has the cleanest tank ever. In between all of that she also does the books. Julie is also the proud mom of three of our kittens and they are spoiled rotten.

Cheryl always has a smile on her face and she too is a cleaning machine, from laundry to walls to floors whatever it takes she is there. When you walk into the sanctuary you can hear Cheryl talking to all the cats and laughing and that in turn makes me laugh.  Cheryl is the talented person that takes most of the pictures you see posted on Facebook, and she is also one of the bakers for our bake sales. Cheryl is the proud mom of two of our kitties.

Margaret spends one on one time with each and every cat. She grooms them and plays with them and makes them feel loved. She tells her co workers and friends about them and helps get them adopted. Margaret is a master candy maker, which we sell at our bake sales. Everyone loves her candy. She is dedicated at raising money for The Ark and coming up with new ideas. She has this infectious laugh that just brightens your day.

Teresa loves each and everyone of our cats as if they were own. She treats them like family and has their best interest at heart. She brings her grandson up sometimes just so they can spend quality time together and hang out with the kitties. Teresa is the proud mom of one our kitties.

Kat does our Facebook page and does it very well. She too loves all of our animals and is the proud mom of one our kitties. Promotionally whatever we need Kat is our go-to person and we just can’t say enough good things about her.

Karen is  our vet run person. Any time we have an emergency, we pick up the phone and call her. She is always there no matter what time, and yes there have been some early morning vet runs. She transports cats for neuter and spays, for surgeries and appointments. She handles the tough situations of helping cats in homes where the owners can no longer care for them.  She has seen the worst of the worst and she still keeps going.

Jay  is a lifesaver. She cooks for all of the bake sales and whatever she makes it is always delicious. She is also the person responsible for all of those beautiful quilts at our silent auctions. It is not just quilts that she makes, she makes wall hangings  and numerous other items and they are all gorgeous.

Vi is in charge of the ink cartridge program and any errands that need to be run, weather it is banking, trips to the post office or distributing flyers Vi is our girl.

Holly is responsible for that delicious pulled pork that you buy at our bake sales. Holly helps out with the fundraiser’s and other special projects such as feral cat buildings.

Each and everyone of these people bring something to the table and they are the reason The Ark is such a success. I am so glad they are a part of our team. Their hard work and dedication does not go unnoticed, but sometimes I forget to tell them all just how much they are appreciated and loved.  Hats off to you ladies you are truly amazing.

Thank you for your continued support and as always thank you for reading our column.
