Another storm forecast to drop 4 to 7 inches of snow on parts of Aroostook County Monday, could cause traffic issues, according to the National Weather Service Caribou office.
Total snow accumulations of up to 7 inches are expected in The County with the highest snowfall totals anticipated south of Presque Isle, states an NWS winter weather advisory in effect from midnight to 4 p.m. Monday.
The advisory targets an area in northern and western Maine that includes Van Buren, Presque Isle, Houlton, Patten, Lincoln, East Millinocket and Dover-Foxcroft. Snow further north and west in the St. John Valley is predicted in the 1-3 inch range.
In a stronger storm warning, the NWS forecasts heavier snow of 6 to 10 inches for eastern and coastal Maine, including Bangor, Calais and Bar Harbor. That warning also is in effect through 4 p.m. Monday. Six inches or more are expected to fall further south, affecting Augusta, Portland and south central Maine.
The NWS warning states, “Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute. … Expect snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.”
