Houlton Council of Catholic women meet

The Houlton Council of Catholic Women met on Monday, April 1, at 5:30 p.m. in the Parish Center.  There was 11 members and Deacon Al Burleigh present for the gathering.

President Sue Hardy lead the members with opening prayer, salute to the flag and cross and our hymn.  Deacon Al offered a blessing and a luncheon, prepared by the April committee, was enjoyed by all.

After the luncheon, President Sue Hardy called the meeting to order. Kathy Klein read the secretary’s report for March. Treasurer Jane Mitchell gave the treasurer’s report.  There was no correspondence this month. Historian Jane Stile had a poster board display of the activities of HCCW over the past 80 years.

The annual banquet was discussed and members voted to have the Knights of Columbus cater the meal which will be held at the Parish Center.

The baby shower for the Pregnancy Care Center will be held during the month of April   A cradle has been placed in the back of the church for parishioners who wish to donate new baby items.

The annual meeting of MDCCW will be held in Hallowell on April 27, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nominations of officers for 2019-2020 were held.  New officers will be approved at the May meeting.

The rummage sale was discussed and the majority voted to have the sale again this year.  There will be more discussion on the matter at our May meeting.

The door prize was won by Sue Hardy. Birthdays and anniversaries for April were noted. Prayer intentions were gathered and Deacon Al lead in a decade of the Rosary.

Our next meeting will be May 6 at 5:30 p.m. in the Parish Center.  All Catholic ladies are invited to attend.
