Oakfield Seniors – Week of May 21

The members of Oakfield Senior Citizens held their last meeting of May at the Smoki-Haulers Club House on May 15. The theme of this meeting was honoring our family and friends that have passed on.

The decorations were red, white and blue with American Flags on the tables and large American flags covered a special memorial  table set up to hold pictures of these folks. We told stories and shared many memories of how they enriched our lives.

President Alberta McDonald called the business to order with The Lord’s Prayer and the Flag Salute.

All of the reports were read and accepted. Marie Gillotti was the 50/50 winner. George Barrow and Vern McLaughlin were the winners of patriotic magnets.

Jann Votaw led everyone in singing God Bless America followed by a solo written by Jann, Gone But Not Forgotten.

Next meeting on June 5th will be our annual outing.

Thanks to everyone that brought peanut butter and jelly for the Bangor Savings Bank annual collection.

Attending were: Alberta McDonald, Jann Votaw, Marie Gillotti, Don and Charlotte Marley, Bernice Campbell, Betty McGary, Arlene Friel, Judy Williams, Wannetta Townsend, George Barrow, Earl and Lottie Doughty, Vern McLaughlin and Mildred Gagnon.

As usual it was another delicious potluck.  All seniors are invited to join us on the first and third Wednesday of each month for good food and fun.
