HOULTON, Maine — On Saturday July 13, the Salvation Army of Houlton will host its 2nd annual “The County’s Ride For The Red Shield” motorcycle fundraising event.

Envoy/Pastor Frank Nataluk said “Last year’s event was very successful and we hope to grow it even more this year. Those that participated had a great time and said they would bring more of their friends to this years ride. The neediest of the Houlton area will benefit and participants will have a great day, this is a win-win!”

The Scrabble-Scramble winner will receive a grand prize of a 2-night weekday stay with breakfast included at the North Conway Grand Hotel. There will also be door prizes from local businesses. Trophies will also be given for Judges Choice Best Bike, People’s Choice Best Bike and Best Represented Bike Group.

Registration is 8-9 a.m. at The Salvation Army, 12 Court St. in Houlton next door to the County Courthouse. A bike blessing will be held at 9 a.m. and at 9:15am the 3-hour ride will begin. Each biker will have directions with two places to stop and the ending point is at The Salvation Army where they began the ride.

There will be a barbecue lunch, the judging of the bikes and awards and door prizes. Any monetary donation is appreciated and an event t-shirt will be given to the first 40 registrants.  Registration forms are available at https://nne.salvationarmy.org/houlton.

With families needing more and more assistance the group hopes to raise $10,000 at this year’s ride. There are still opportunities for businesses to sponsor the event. To do so, call the Houlton Salvation Army office at 532-2322 or cellphone 231-1982 or email: fnataluk@use.salvationarmy.org.
