Company invites students to apply for scholarships

AROOSTOOK COUNTY, Maine — Students in Aroostook County are invited to apply for a scholarship opportunity through A-1 Auto Transport Inc, a national shipping company with offices in Maine.

Students who are currently enrolled in an accredited college, university or trade school are eligible. The company offers $1,000, $500 and $250 scholarships to applicants who have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and who submit an essay into the company.

Essays must be at least 1,000 words and candidates may write about anything of interest to the auto transport industry. Some previous topics include door-to-door transport, overseas moving and enclosed vehicle transport.

Company officials said plagiarism of any sort is not tolerated, and students will be disqualified if found doing so.

Once applications are in, the company will post the essays on its website. Students will be encouraged to share the links to their essays for public voting, and the scholarship committee will consider vote tallies when making their final decision on the winners.

Winners will be notified via email and announced on the site at the end of March 2020.
