Mars Hill news and notes for July 24, 2019

MARS HILL, Maine — The Mars Hill Rotary Club met at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, for their regular weekly meeting at the Northern Light Continuing Care facility in Mars Hill.

The guest speaker was Jason Woollard from County Super Spuds, who spoke about the new facility for Penobscot/McCrum being built in Washburn.  They started their processing business 15 years ago. It took a lot of risk and hard work to bring this all together, but they are successful and still growing and customer-oriented.

They were looking to expand, but the Belfast site was not an option.  They looked throughout Maine for a site. They chose Maine for their new plant which will be 120,000 square feet just for the factory.   They chose Washburn for their new site at the former R.T. French Factory location.

Woollard described what has gone into the planning and the construction of this new facility.  It will be open 24 hours a day and they are looking to June 2020 for their opening.
