CARIBOU, Maine — Two people were transported to Cary Medical Center following an Aug. 13 accident on the Van Buren Road in Caribou, according to the Caribou Police Department.

The accident was called in at 9:50 a.m. Police determined that it occurred when Fonda Anderson, 57, of Crystal, driving a 2012 Lincoln, merged off an exit ramp and onto the Van Buren Road, which is also known as Route 1.

According to the police report, Anderson checked for southbound traffic but did not see a taxi traveling north before turning onto the road.

This resulted in a collision between the 2011 Ford taxi, driven by Lynne Moholland, 52, of Fort Fairfield, and the 2012 Lincoln.

Caribou Police Department Administrative Assistant Laura Adams said that both Anderson and a passenger in the taxi were transported by Caribou Fire and Ambulance to Cary Medical Center due to their injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene due to the amount of damage to both vehicles.

The accident is not under investigation.
