HOULTON, Maine — On Thursday, Aug. 8, Border Patrol Explorer in Charge Christopher “CJ” Violette was recognized by U.S. Senator Susan Collins for being named National Border Patrol Explorer of the Year.

Trisha House, state office representative for Senator Collins, presented Violette with a letter of recognition signed by Sen. Collins.

Violette is the patrol explorer in charge of Houlton Border Patrol Explorer Post 1820 and has been an active Explorer for more than two years. The National Border Patrol Explorer of the Year Award was presented by Carla Provost, Chief of the United States Border Patrol, during National Police Week in Washington, D.C., in May.

The letter from Sen. Collins acknowledged Violette’s dedication, individual achievement, academic standing, and leadership within the Border Patrol Explorer program. Nationally, the Border Patrol sponsors approximately 50 Explorer Posts with nearly 1,000 active Border Patrol Explorers. PEIC Violette is the first Maine-based Explorer to win the national award.
