It is hard to believe that the summer season has passed by. We started off a little slow due to the weather, but once we got going, it was full speed ahead. But some of the best golf is still ahead. Temperatures can be a little brisk, or they could get to the mid- to high-seventies. The beauty of playing golf now is always in the changing landscape.

Now that our last major tournament was completed over Labor Day weekend, we will look forward to a couple fun tournaments. On Sunday, Sept. 15, we will hold our popular Cross Country Par Three Match to benefit the Houlton Project Graduation 2020. This is a four-person, nine-hole scramble format. Each team must be mixed gender — no all male or all female teams. Registration starts at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at noon. Cost is $25 per player. Call the pro shop at 532-2662 to sign up your team or individual players will be teamed up.

On Saturday, Sept. 21, we will host the Ryan Wright/ Elks Memorial Scramble. It’s a fun time and benefits the Memorial Fund. Call the Elks Club for more info and to sign up.

The Lakeside Restaurant has continued to put flavorful meals on the tables all summer. Bill and Nancy and their outstanding staff have done an excellent job. Call Nancy at 694-9494 to make your reservations for Wednesday through Sunday.

Finally I say golf season is not over. You can come out, play a round, and then have a great meal at the Lakeside afterwards. Enjoy the exercise, enjoy the landscape, and we will see you out on the course.
