PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The University of Maine at Presque Isle women’s soccer team took on North Atlantic Conference opponent Maine Maritime Academy in the last home match of the year on Oct. 26.

The Owls celebrated senior day, lauding their senior Alexis Levesque of Madawaska in her final home game.

The Owls fell 1-0 to the Mariners in a close match, said UMPI Sports Information Director Mark Knight.

MMA came into the game aggressively with an early goal in the 15th minute, giving them the lead. The Owls’ defense held up strong throughout the game despite the 15 shots but the Mariners, 12 of which were on goal, only allowing one goal in the 90-minute match, Knight said.

UMPI ended the game with three shots themselves as MMA controlled the tempo of the game.

The Owls fell to a 7-5-2 record and 2-4-1 in the NAC, while MMA moved to 10-4 and 7-0 in the NAC.
