CARIBOU, Maine — A shorted out starter caused a 2001 Chevy Impala to catch on fire Saturday afternoon, destroying the vehicle, according to Caribou Fire Captain Scott Jackson.

Two firefighters responded on Nov. 2 at 12:25 p.m., and found the burning vehicle on 70 Campground Hill Road. They remained on the scene for 41 minutes until the fire was completely extinguished.

Jackson said the vehicle was deemed a total loss, with an estimated thousand dollars worth of damage.

No individuals were injured during the fire, and the Caribou Fire Captain added that he could not disclose the name of the vehicle’s owner.

The vehicle itself was insured.
