The TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter of Houlton met Friday, Nov. 15 at the Aldergate Building on Kelleran Street. There were eight TOPS and five KOPS present. The loser of the week was Mildred Gagnon and the runner up was Pam Richardson.

The secretary’s report was given by Jean Merritt. The weight report was given by Millie Gagnon. Thank you both. Jean Merritt won the 50/50. The skinny dish was held over until next week.  Barbara Troy won the health basket.

Delicious healthy food continues to be brought by each of our members. It’s really great to see the variety available.  Will fill you in on the contest and the latest losers next week. We’re all going to win a charm for our determination toward our weight loss.

Betty Wyman read a poem entitled “Fat,  just one pound. No one will notice me, that I’m just one pound, so I’ll just hang around.” Saying I only lost one pound is not the way to keep yourself losing. Be glad for yourself that you lost that pound and remember it’s a great week when you can say, “Hoorah for ME. I lost a pound.”

The second poem Betty read was “Start Over. ”  And to sum this up if you didn’t do good, Went astray, failed to come through, or have a setback “Tomorrow is another day, so start over!”

Diane Folsom asked us “What are we grateful for?” Some of the answers we gave were being alive, laughter, our senses to let us smell and taste. Health was mentioned several times and so was family.

Thank you Diane and Betty. Very interesting. How about you? What are you personally grateful for?  Send me an email and let me know. Come join us on Friday mornings and get to know us as a group, TOPS as a way to lose,  And best of all, get the support, the encouragement and the oomph we all need to keep us on our own personal journey. You can reach me at pammie534@gmail.com or you can also call me at 207-538-8760, or call Diane Folsom at 207-521-1717.  Hope to see you at our next meeting on Dec. 6.
