FORT KENT, Maine — A Mapleton woman was transported to the hospital by ambulance Thursday afternoon after the car she was driving crashed into a parked vehicle near the McDonald’s restaurant on Main Street.

Shortly after 5 p.m. on Thursday, Debra Parent, 58, was traveling westbound on Main Street when she failed to see a parked 2012 Ford utility pickup, police said.

Parent’s 2018 Ford passenger car crashed into the pickup, which was legally parked on the side of the road, Fort Kent Police Chief Tom Pelletier said.

Ambulance Service Inc. transported Parent to Northern Maine Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, Pelletier said.

The airbags in Parent’s Ford deployed. The car received extensive damage and was towed from the scene. There was minor damage done to the truck.
