LITTLETON, Maine — The Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum in Littleton will be hosting its annual membership supper 4:30-6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18.

A free roast beef supper is offered for those folks renewing or joining the membership for 2020. For other attendees, the meal is $9. Memberships are: $20 for a single; $30 for a family; $50 for a sodbuster; $100 for a Thresher; and $250 for Farmer of the Year.

There are also lifetime memberships available: $500 for a single or $750 for a couple. A membership entitles you to free admittance to the museum throughout the year, and a quarterly newsletter.

The museum has been collecting items since 2002 and now provides a variety of displays. As one looks through the museum it is amazing that if the volunteers had not begun this labor of love, many things that are on display now would have been lost.

Many youngsters touring the museum have never seen a rotary dial telephone, a typewriter, a hand water pump, a table-top hair dryer, wooden shovels and scoops, irons that were heated on a wood stove, kerosene lamps, cameras that use film, toasters and popcorn poppers that don’t use electricity, old fashioned wringer washers and so many more items.

At this time, volunteers are working to complete an electric train display donated by Lois Clark, whose late husband Jay was a past president. He loved trains and had his trains set up in his basement with lots of accessories. The train display will be located in the Grass Tool Room.
