Sorority sisters meet in Presque Isle

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Maine Torchbearer Epsilon chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met on Dec. 19 at the home of Tammy Walton. 

Hors d’oeuvres were served by the social committee. 

Vice President Bonnie Cowett conducted the business meeting. Cards from Sue Lougee and Linda Swett were read. An informational letter from Homeless Services of Aroostook discussing their recent expansion was shared. 

The service committee reported that purses for the Hope and Justice Project are filled and ready for delivery. The 50-50 raffle was won by Iris Towle. 

Bonnie Cowett attended the Wreaths Across America ceremony held in Littleton and shared some history about this national event. The chapter purchased two wreaths that were placed during the ceremony.

Happy dollars were shared by Ellen Helstrom, Cathy Walton, Iris Towle, Jane James and Lucy Adams. All enjoyed a Yankee Swap presided over by Lynn Walton. The service committee served dessert.

The next meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, at the home of Bonnie Cowett.
