Editor’s Note: An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.

HOULTON, Maine — The Maine State Police Troop F barracks in Houlton responded to a number of calls for service during the period of Jan. 20-26, including the following.

Wednesday, Jan. 22

HODGDON: Cpl. Quint was conducting traffic enforcement in Hodgdon and observed a vehicle that did not have an inspection certificate. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver stated she just bought the car and was taking it to be repaired. Further investigation determined the vehicle had falsely attached registration plates and was not insured. Cpl. Quint issued the driver a warning for not having the inspection, a traffic summons for not having insurance, and a criminal summons for the illegally attached plates. The vehicle was towed from the roadway and the driver arranged for someone to come get her.

FRENCHVILLE: Tr. Desrosier responded to a single vehicle crash in Frenchville. The driver was using his phone connected to Bluetooth to listen to music, attempted to change the song, and went off the roadway. Further investigation by Tr. Desrosier determined the man was impaired and field sobriety testing was conducted. The man failed the tests and was taken to Fort Kent PD for an Intoxilyzer test. The man was able to post bail and was released.

MARS HILL: Tr. Desrosier investigated a motor vehicle theft in Mars Hill. The victim’s sister had taken his van without permission and was likely driving it to New Hampshire. The vehicle was located the next day by a local PD in New Hampshire and impounded. The officers arrested a man inside the vehicle on an unrelated warrant but had to release the driver. Tr. Desrosier is securing a warrant for her arrest.

OAKFIELD: Tr. Cotton learned that a female in Oakfield had an active warrant stemming from an operating-under-the-influence crash that Tr. Cotton handled in the fall of 2019. Tr. Cotton located the female at her residence and placed her under arrest. The female was transported to the Aroostook County Jail without incident.

SHERMAN: Tr. Cotton was conducting traffic enforcement in Sherman when he observed a black GMC pickup exceeding the speed limit. Tr. Cotton pulled the truck over and learned that the trucks plates were falsely attached, and the operator was on bail. Ultimately, Tr. Cotton issued the operator a summons for the bail violation and for attaching false plates. Tr Cotton escorted the male down the road to his residence, where he met his mother and got a ride to the town office to register his vehicle.

Sunday, Jan. 26

St. FRANCIS: Tr. Curtin pulled a vehicle over in St. Francis. While gaining identification from a passenger in the vehicle, a male subject provided two different names to Tr. Curtin. Unfortunately for him, one of the false names he provided to Tr. Curtin was another man who also had a warrant out for his arrest. Tr. Curtin took the man into custody and continued his investigation. Tr. Curtin ultimately learned the real identity of the man. He had three warrants out for his arrest and had been being sought for approximately the last year. The man was charged with providing a false name, violations of conditions of release, and drinking in public. He was transported to the Aroostook County Jail.

MAPLETON: Cpl. Michaud responded to an apartment complex in Mapleton. Two residents of the complex had been involved in a dispute of the behavior of dogs that were owned by one of the men. Cpl. Michaud was able to get the men to resolve their differences and settle the dispute.
