Utility upgrades live outage map

BANGOR and PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — In December, Emera Maine launched a new Live Outage and Restoration Map, which is now available online.

Customers can access the map in the Outages & Restoration section of the company’s website, emeramaine.com. The map is also accessible directly from KUBRA Storm Center, a customer experience management company.

According to Emera communications specialist Judy Long, the new version is easier to navigate on both computer and cellphone, features mobile-responsive design and includes a number of options for users to customize their experience.

Customers can now search for a particular address to see if an outage has been reported, set bookmarks at locations where they want to keep track of service status, choose map views, including the option to overlay weather radar, and find links to report an outage, as well as view planned maintenance and learn more about the utility’s outage restoration approach and how to be prepared for storms.

Long said the new map also allows users to get general information about all reported outages in Emera Maine’s service territory by county or community in a summary list that can be sorted alphabetically, by number of customers affected or by percentage of customers affected.

A brief video demonstration is available at the Outages & Restoration section on Emera Maine’s website.

Customers can report an outage any time online by using the Power Issue Report Form, or via phone at 207-973-2000 or 1-855-363-7211.
